Solidarity is so important now more than ever. Friends & family are out of work. Schools are closed. Uncertainty lies ahead for many of us. The whole world is on high alert pertaining to the potential of this virus. A pandemic is a scary concept.
Some aren’t sure what to do with all this free time. Well, what are we supposed to do? Maybe it’s time to get ourselves back into the swing of life’s basics. Life as we know it is temporarily on hold. What positives can we gain from this? We have been granted an opportunity to slow down and heal ourselves from the inside out.
Together we can focus on the cheap thrills; the every day things we want to enjoy but make the excuse that we don’t have the TIME to enjoy them. Truthfully, I feel relief thinking about society being forced to do nothing because my hope is that social distancing will help begin the enlightening process for some. What I mean by that is for people to acknowledge, accept and appreciate the happy simplicity life has to offer.
As an empath, social media has been too overwhelming. People are suddenly pandemic crisis experts who know exactly what’s happening at every moment. None of us are credible in speaking outside of our own experiences or expertise. It’s to the point now where people speak to be correct instead of rational or helpful.
I can’t help but wonder, did we as a species need this to happen for a greater good? Did it take something this drastic for us to get our heads out of the clouds? Will we be closer as human beings when this is over or will people continue to devalue the cheap thrills life has to offer?
What kind of Cheap Thrills?
– Go for a walk – Paint – Read – Write – Binge Netflix – Sing – Dance – Create @ home workouts – Follow a new recipe (I opt out of this one) – Eat snacks – Teach your dog a new trick – Call someone – Write letters – Sit in stillness – Clean your closet – Water your plants – Eat more snacks – Drink – Roll joints – Play cards – Puzzles – Be a good person… –
You summed it up NicNoc!!! I’m going to bake (using less baking soda this time.)
Ohhhh Nikki, you nailed it babe!!!!!
Nikki,
You continue to amaze me….Love your writing about the “things” people don’t want to hear or think about in this world of dysfunction, fear, non-belief, corruption, entitlement and I could go on and on. Of course, the news media being on 24/7 doesn’t help with each one trying to outdo the other with “World Breaking News”. I am happy that you are with some of us who believe….try to live your everyday life with hope, happiness, a walk around your neighborhood, a ride in the car, (not necessarily being in close proximity physically to any one) and most importantly in constant touch with loving family and good friends.
Love you bunches,
Non
