Return of the Mat

It’s felt so good to be back! Back on my yoga mat that is. Yoga at home is great and all but holy shit did I miss being on my mat in a community setting. Yoga just hits different when you’ve got a group of yogis vibrating some next level energy.

Unrolling the mat is like starting the engine of a car. It won’t physically take you anywhere but it definitely will take you on a spiritual journey. Whether it’s used for meditation, yoga or whatever else, you get to be the sole passenger making the ride as difficult or as easy as it needs to be. When I practice yoga, I think of the mat as my magic carpet. It provides just enough space to spread out yet feel secure at the same time. The places I can go on my mat are limitless. If I’m not engaged by a yoga class, I take my mat to the beach if I envision it hard enough.

Step Onto Your Mat & Into Power

The mat has the ability to transform you. You step onto it being one person. You go through your flow or meditation and emerge a completely renewed individual; possibly equipped with new visions, clearer goals, a sweatier body, or an overall feeling of wellness.

Being only so many millimeters thick they provide stability and surface without taking away the natural feel of the earth below. Mats humbly pull the energy back down towards the ground. If you’re anything like me, the occasional “grounding” is warranted and graciously accepted.

Love your mat. It can be the greatest tool to divinity that you never even gave a second thought.

  1. Sweet Nik,
Loved your personal, gratifying and serene reflection of the “yoga mat”…..if I were 60 years younger…, I would happily join you on the mat for that overall feeling of wellness.
    Love you,
    Non
    xoxo
